Course request form instructions

Read these instructions before filling in the Course request form!

We recommend that your create a new Moodle course for your implementation through Peppi.

You can request a Moodle course using the Course request form when creating the Moodle course through Peppi is not possible for one reason or another.

Common reasons for using the Course request form:

• You need another Moodle course for an implementation that already has one Moodle course that was created using Peppi.
• The Moodle course is not intended for an implementation that exists in Peppi, but for example as a workspace for staff training.
• You want your own "sand box course", where you can test activities and other functions in Moodle. 
• You do not wish to create a Moodle course for your implementation through Peppi for technical or other reasons.

How to fill in the Course request form

Course full name

• For implementations that are listed in Peppi, use the name of the implementation as the name of the Moodle course. You can edit the course name afterwards in the course settings.
  

Course short name

• For course implementations that are listed in Peppi, use the implementation code as the short name. If you are requesting additional Moodle-courses for the same implementation, use sequential numbering in the short name (colon + number).
  
  • Example: if the implementation code is 12345678-3001, use 12345678-3001 as the short name for the first Moodle course, 12345678-3001:1 for the second, 12345678-3001:2 for the third, and so on.
    
  • For some Oamk implementations it may be appropriate to use a different method of demarcation of Moodle course short names than sequential numbers. In these cases, please suggest a different short name, but one that still includes the implementation code.
    
• If the requested Moodle course is not for a course implementation listed in Peppi, please suggest a unique short name that reflects the content or purpose of the course.
  
• For personal sand box courses, use "HL-[your last name]" as the short name. For example, HL-Virtanen.
• Please note that you cannot edit the course short name afterwards. If the short name needs to be changed, contact Moodle support at moodle@oulu.fi
  

Course category

• Choose a course category which reflects the purpose of your Moodle course. University of Oulu and Oamk implementations have their own respective categories. You cannot edit the course category afterwards. If the category needs to be changed, contact Moodle support at moodle@oulu.fi. Do NOT choose an archive category.
  

Summary

• A description of your Moodle course, which is visible in the list of Moodle courses. The summary helps users find the course using Moodle's search function in case they do not know its full name or short name. You can edit the summary afterwards in the Description section of the course settings.
  

Reasons for wanting this course

• The reasons for your course request. What is the purpose of the Moodle course? Why can't the Moodle course be created using Peppi?
