English Contracts across Borders: legal English course for business students Level: C1 1-3 ECTS credits
In this course you will learn about certain types and special language features of English language contracts relevant for business life.
To understand these contracts, the course will give a brief overview of the Anglo-American legal systems, in other words the two major common law systems, and the cultural and historical background to business contracts in English, and the differences between contracts governed by common law and civil law, i.e. European law. As a result, you will become familiar with the most important legal concepts and vocabulary related to contracts relevant to business transactions.
