HILMA network | Contemporary Topics in Decolonial Queer Studies, 19.09 – 14.11.2025
Teacher Haru Laura Menard
This course explores key debates and current themes in queer theory, focusing on the intersections of sexuality, race, and coloniality and how these challenge dominant ways of knowing. Engaging with decolonial and postcolonial perspectives, particularly from the Middle East and Latin America, the course examines topics such as queer temporalities, migration, homonationalism, sexual citizenship, and the politics of visibility. By examining key texts and theoretical approaches, students will consider how queer studies can address complex global dynamics and imagine new possibilities for future.
