Water resources are faced with many challenges such as climate change, increasing population and the effects of human activity. Public and private stakeholders who are active in this field must develop optimum ways to use the water by considering water resources management. The objective of this course is to develop an understanding of the problems related to water management. The course include 14 lectures, which cover different topics. It will look at water resources planning and practices in global, Europe and Finland, water regulation, water demand, technics for simulation and optimization, water resources economy, Remote sensing, integrative and interactive water resources planning, Restoration as tool in water resources management, decision support systems in water resources, management of diffusive load and water protection methods and flood and drought management.
