Upon completion of the course, the students will have developed their skills in the correct usage of spoken English in relation to different forms of discourse in various contexts. The students will display an understanding of the principles of the English sound system and intonation patterns and will be able to implement their skills in different academic contexts (e.g. oral presentations, talks, ethnographic interviews). The student will be able to give, receive and engage with peer-based feedback. They will also be able to apply the generally accepted conventions of scholarly discourse skills in English. Moreover, they will be able to use appropriate resources successfully to find solutions to language-related issues. The students will also be able to make use of the knowledge and experiences that they acquire during the course in their future studies as well as in any future language work.
