Course Description
This course is designed to provide you with comprehensive
knowledge about IoT devices, frameworks, and standards. We will focus on
various IoT use cases and connectivity scenarios that are set to shape
the future of networks.
Course Objectives
We aim to equip you with the following:
Knowledge:
- Layered models and reference architectures
- Embedded systems and sensor networks
- IoT gateways
- Examples of specific IoT services and applications: Smart-Energy, Smart-Health, Smart-City, Smart-X, Industry 4.0
- Communication protocols for IoT (e.g., Rest, MQTT, CoAP)
- Cloud platforms for IoT applications (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud IoT)
- Principles of data processing, storage, analysis, and machine learning
- Visualization techniques
Skills:
- Analysis of heterogeneous and distributed IoT solutions
- Design, development, integration, and testing of IoT technologies
- Professional terminology and concept usage
Competencies:
- Selection and evaluation of IoT technologies based on specific requirements
- Implementation and integration of IoT solutions into architectures
- Assessment of user, business, and technical implications of IoT solutions

Our textbook will use "Programming the Internet of Things" by Andy King (Released June 2021, ISBN: 9781492081418).
